Send an alert or a message to a subset of the contact list.

A client asked so we wrote an article.

We’re planning to add several thousand participants to our contact list. When new referrals come in, we’d like to send a one-time message to a subset of about 50 participants. Since this is a single notification, setting up a storyline wouldn’t really make sense just for that group. Also, because our REDCap instance doesn’t integrate with Mosio, we wouldn’t be able to use the alert features available through REDCap.

Yes, you can select contacts from the contact list. You can filter down by any criteria that is displayed. I suggest the following:

1. Go to Tools > Project Variables, from here create any variables you need to import data and segment your participants. i.e. "group" or "cohort" or even "zipcode", etc.

2. Go to Contacts > Contacts Uploader

   a. Use the CSV upload option to upload your participants. You can specify any variables you have defined in step 1 in your CSV, and they will be imported with the contact, so you can search on this later.

   b. Be sure to select "Update existing contacts", otherwise the system won't import the additional fields.

Now you can filter your contact list and select the participants. At the bottom of the contact list is a select all option. Next to that, choose Send Group Message to schedule your message.
