Understanding the RCD License: The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Analogy

Sometimes clients ask how the RCD License works from the organization and the individual staff using Mosio. "Is it an Enterprise license? Do we have to buy in bulk?" We've been using an analogy that seems to work pretty well. 

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Analogy
Think of the RCD License like an organization purchasing a top-tier insurance package from Enterprise for all of its employees. Once engaged, each staff member still goes and rents the type of car they need: whether it’s an economy car, SUV, or Jeep, based on their specific project needs. 

They pay for their own rental (this is like choosing and paying for a Mosio Account Plan, Direct, Basic, or Plus), but they don’t have to worry about the extra cost of insurance. That coverage is already taken care of by their organization through the RCD License.

The result? Each researcher or department only pays for what they actually use (their individual plan), while the organization ensures that everyone is operating under a formal, compliant, and protected framework. It keeps costs lower for individual teams while giving institutions peace of mind that all requirements - like data privacy and formal agreements, are covered.

An RCD License is not required to purchase a Mosio account plan.
