How to Download Study Subject Data from REDCap
FollowPlease note that your organization's policies and versions of REDCap might be different, so use this information as a guide. It was shared with us.
Prerequisites:
You must have data export rights for the project.
Your REDCap project must be in production or have data entered in development mode.
Steps to Download as CSV or Excel
Log in to your REDCap instance and open your project.
In the left-hand menu, click on:
“Data Exports, Reports, and Stats”
You’ll see a list of existing reports. You can either:
Use the default “All data (CSV raw)” report
Or create a custom report that filters specific fields or subjects
Click on the report you want to export.
On the report page:
You'll see a table of your study subjects (records)
Above the table, click:
“Export Data”
Choose your export format:
CSV (raw data)
CSV (labels)
Microsoft Excel (labels) — best for human readability
Optional: Apply de-identification settings if required for compliance or IRB protocols.
Click:
“Export Data”
The file will download to your computer.
