FollowWhether you're brand new to REDCap or looking to sharpen your skills, there are excellent free training resources available from universities and research organizations. Here are some of our favorites.
Courses & Structured Training
- Data Management for Clinical Research (Coursera) — A free online course from Vanderbilt University taught by Paul Harris, PhD, the creator of REDCap. Covers research data planning, collection, storage, and hands-on work with REDCap.
- ITHS REDCap Training Series (University of Washington) — A structured curriculum divided into three skill levels, with select classes available on-demand via the ITHS TREE Learning Management System.
- REDCap 111: Basics (University of Michigan / MICHR) — A self-paced online course (approximately one hour) covering navigation, data entry, and project creation.
Quick Start Guides & Video Libraries
- REDCap Video Library — Official videos from the REDCap team at Vanderbilt covering fundamentals and key features.
- Quick Start Guide for REDCap (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) — A beginner-friendly guide developed by CHOP's Arcus Education team.
- REDCap Training (University of Chicago) — Videos on fundamental concepts, building a project, and basic features and modules. Their REDCap Administrator also offers free Zoom consultations for project design questions.
